This is a 4 month contact assignment starting ASAP.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager and Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, financial analyses, system controls, management reports, tax filings, and supporting the annual budget and audit processes. This role may include supervising an entry-level accountant.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee and train staff accountant(s) on general ledger responsibilities and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
• Conduct high-level general ledger account analysis and reconciliation (cash, receivables, fixed assets, etc.).
• Compile variance analysis for assigned accounts.
• Develop and implement internal and external accounting policies and controls.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and proper accounting procedures across departments.
• Collaborate with the Financial Information Systems team on system updates and maintenance.
• Assist in training new employees on accounting policies and procedures.
• Promote team collaboration, communication, and a productive work environment.
• Manage special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (required).
• 3-5 years of accounting experience (Masters + 2 years may be considered).
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in G/L systems (Lawson preferred) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Ability to apply GAAP in a non-profit acute care environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict protocols.
